Vote for me to be on Channel [V]!

Vote for me to be on Channel [V]!

Last weekend, I spent a fairly large portion of my time looking at photos of myself.  Why?  Because I needed a headshot to submit for my Channel [V] Presenter Search 2012 application.  After looking at picture after picture, I became rather confused about my appearance [how can photos of the same face be so different?], but in the end, I settled on this portrait, taken by my friend Robyn:

This is the kind of face that you want to see on your television screen, right?

“Why do you want to be a presenter on Channel [V]” I hear you ask.  [You didn’t ask that?  Okay, I must be hearing things].  It’s quite simple: when you’re a music know-it-all, you crave the opportunity to show off your knowledge at all times.  Back when I worked on 1700, it was great.  As a producer and music manager, it was my job to know everything about the bands we had on and the clips we played.  But these days, I just don’t have that kind of outlet anymore.  Presenting on Channel [V] would be the perfect opportunity to learn about new music, and meet all kinds of musicians.

As a part of the application process, I had to shoot and upload an audition video.  In doing so, I learnt that while my time at C31 taught me how to identify good editing and camerawork, I’m not so skilled in the execution of such things.  However, Channel [V] aren’t looking for an editor [or someone who knows how to stop their webcam from overexposing every shot], they’re looking for a host.  And hopefully, I’ve been able to prove that I’m capable of hosting.

Now, I’m not going to post that video here.  Instead, I shall direct you towards the “View & Rate Entries” section of the Presenter Search website.  Clicking here should lead you straight to my entry.  What I’m asking of you, is to please click “like”.  You don’t even have to watch the video, but please “like” it to show your support.

It’s worth mentioning that the Biffy Clyro interview that I talk about in the video was shot by the incredibly talented Cassie Walker, who is also applying for the Channel [V] presenter gig.  I know she’s my competition and all, but I’d love for us both to get through to the next round, so feel free to vote for her, too!
