My new radio show, “Under the Covers” premiered last night, with only a few minor glitches [okay, so perhaps turning on the wrong mic at the start of the show is more than just a minor glitch, but let’s just try and forget about that one].  For the first show, I tried to keep the playlist as broad and varied as possible, while still sticking to the overall “indie” theme of Monday nights on SYN.

In case you missed it, here’s the tracklisting:

[Leonard Cohen]

02. José Gonzalès – “Hand on Your Heart”
[Kylie Minogue]

03. Mark Ronson & Kyle Falconer [from The View] – “Valerie”
[The Zutons]

04. Lily Allen – “Mr Blue Sky”
[Electric Light Orchestra]

05. Richard Cheese – “Only Happy When it Rains”

06. Stereophonics – “You Sexy Thing”
[Hot Chocolate]

07. Wagons – “Never Been to Spain”
[Elvis Presley]

08. Newton Faulkner – “Foundations”
[Kate Nash]

09. Arcade Fire – “Maps”
[Yeah Yeah Yeahs]

10. Nouvelle Vague – “Ever Fallen in Love?”
[The Buzzcocks]

11. David Bowie – “Penny Lane”
[The Beatles]

12. The Fratellis – “Ooh La La”

13. Noah & the Whale – “You Can Call Me Al”
[Paul Simon]

[Hunters & Collectors]

Make sure you tune in next week [Monday, 9pm, SYN 90.7fm], where I’ll be talking movie soundtracks [including Across the Universe, I am Sam and Walk the Line], and for the second half of the show, will be joined in the studio by the lovely Flavia [ex-1700 host, currently seen on The Wrap], who’ll be chatting about some of her favourite covers, and also the phenomenon that is YouTube. Don’t miss it!
