Sophie and me at Soundwave 2010
Metallica, Blink 182, Linkin Park… next year’s Soundwave Festival has quite the line-up. Even the NME are impressed!
Of course, it only took one name on that list to convince me: GARBAGE. Ever since the release of Not Your Kind of People, I’ve been waiting for them to announce some Australian tour dates, and finally my wish has come true. Sideshows [or ‘sidewaves’, as they call them] won’t be announced until November, but I’m confident that I’ll be able to see Shirley & co at least twice. Hopefully more.
There are a couple of other intriguing bands announced so far – The Offspring, in particular – who I’m quite interested in seeing. Overall, it’s a very strong line-up, and Big Day Out should feel very threatened right now. In fact, while I might not listen to many of the bands on the line-up, only one concerns me; I don’t think it’s fair to list Paramore [who I absolutely cannot stand] ahead of Garbage [the greatest band of all-time].
There is still a second announcement to come, with at least twenty more bands to be named. Here’s hoping for No Doubt and/or Biffy Clyro!
I’ve been getting all of my Soundwave-related news from Music Feeds. I have no reason to endorse them other than the fact that they’re quick to the press and seemingly quite reliable. I really like the way they condense all of the relevant information into one post, rather than milking them for individual news articles. If you like keeping up-to-date with music news, then I recommend liking them on facebook so you get everything straight to your news feed.
