Rory Williams Can Sing?! – Introducing Edmund.

Just in case his character on Doctor Who hasn’t already made you fall in love with Arthur Darvill, the tumblr fangirls have unearthed something pretty spectacular: Arthur used to be [or possibly still is] in a band. They’re called Edmund, and they’re actually really quite good!
It’s always a bit of a worry when actors think they’re musicians, but this is one of the rare cases where someone actually displays both talents. Edmund’s music is that good kind of indie pop/rock that makes you look at bands like The Wombats and shake your head in disgust. They manage to sound incredibly British without sounding like a direct copy of any other British band. Arthur’s vocals remind me of Fyfe Dangerfield, but without the weird screaming and animal noises.
I managed to get my hands on a copy of their debut EP, Well Done You [available here from Corporation Records], and aside from the bizarre fourth track [an instrumental piece that is okay at first, but after a few plays turns into one of those really annoying video game soundtracks that make your head hurt], I’ve had it on repeat. Still not convinced? Listen to “Breaking Into Houses”. And then buy the EP. You know you want to.
