Pitches Ain’t Shit
Over at Do You Know What I Mean?, we’ve decided that it’s time to bring back the Simpsons trivia special – and if it’s going to be as big as last year [which no doubt it will], we figured it’s best to announce it early so that people have a few weeks to get their teams together. I spent a couple of hours yesterday mocking up some poster designs, and then created the facebook event last night. There are already 17 people attending, and it hasn’t even been up for 12 hours yet!
In other news, my life is very much full of assessments and essays at the moment. This afternoon I have to pitch my series idea to some proper industry people. They’re not expected to actually pick up any of our projects, but it’ll be really interesting to get feedback on my pitching skills from people who actually know their stuff. Part of me wants to create a rap based on Dr Dre’s “Bitches Ain’t Shit” [or, more likely, the Ben Folds cover], and call it “Pitches Ain’t Shit”. The other part of me knows that I would never actually do that, even though I somehow get that song stuck in my head every time someone says the word ‘pitch’ [yeah, I don’t know why either]. I’m going to play it straight, and hopefully nail the damn thing. After that I have only two more weeks of classes [and five assessment tasks to complete], and then I’m going to give NaNoWriMo a shot. I do enjoy keeping myself busy.
