Making the Pitch
It’s that time of year again: SYN radio applications are open for season three. If you’ve always dreamed of hosting your own radio show [as I have], then now’s the time to make your pitch! [A few things to keep in mind, though: you’ll need to be radio trained, and a paid-up SYN member].
I’m quite excited about the new radio season, because with my overseas subject I’ve got a little bit of spare time on my hands this coming semester. So, I’ve decided that it’s time for me to pitch my own radio project. With the working title of “Under the Covers”, the series will focus on my love of [you guessed it] cover versions, with hopefully a few musical guests along the way.
A weekly show, I’ll hopefully get an hour block on a Monday evening [indie night], and you’ll be able to hear all sorts of wonderful interpretations – from Codeine Velvet Club’s take on “I Am the Resurrection”, to Cold Chisel’s “Saturday Night” sung by Tripod. “Under the Covers” will be a celebration of everything you love [and hate] about cover versions.
The pitch has been made, so now all I can do is sit tight and wait. Wish me luck!
