LIVE REVIEW: Children Collide – June 13th, The HiFi

It was a chilly June evening, but the HiFi was steaming, as Children Collide pumped out tune after tune at the preview show for their forthcoming new album.

A combination of tracks new and old, there were a few notable omissions from the setlist – including “Cannibal” and “Marie Marie Pt 2” – but most of the crowd pleasers were there, from “Farewell Rocketship” – played surprisingly early on in the set – to “Skeleton Dance” and “Across the Earth”, with the audience singing along to every word.

New single, and current Triple J favourite, “Jellylegs” translated brilliantly to the live setting, and provided a great example of the band’s new direction.

The night closed with the double-hit of “Social Currency” and “Chosen Armies”.  Children Collide may not do encores, but they do go off with a bang.
