Confidence is a preference for the habitual voyeur of what is known as PARKLIFE 2010!

It’s Parklife’s tenth birthday this year, and to celebrate they’ve got quite a line-up planned for Parklife 2010.  Here is the first official announcement, as released this morning:

AC Slater, Ajax, Bag Raiders, Brodinski, Busy P, Chiddy Bang, Classixx, Cut Copy, Dan Black, Darwin Deez, Delorean, Groove Armada, Grum, Gypsy & the Cat, Holy Ghost!, Jack Beats, Jesse Rose, Kele, Mehdi, Memory Tapes, Midnight Juggernauts, Missy Elliott, Mixmaster Mike, New Young Pony Club, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, Sinden, Soulwax, The Dandy Warhols, The Glitch Mob, The Swiss, The Wombats, Uffie, Washington, Wolf Gang, Yolanda Be Cool vs DCup.

While the traditional Parklife genres of electro and hip hop are well covered, it’s interesting so see a few indie/alternative bands in there.  While the overall line-up isn’t enough to convince me to go to the festival, I’d certainly be interested in sideshows from The Dandy Warhols and The Wombats, and maybe even Wolf Gang.

Midnight Juggernauts are still vying for some kind of record for playing every single Australian festival, it seems, which would be great if their stage show wasn’t so boring.  Seeing the same thing over and over again has made me grow quite weary of them.

Also making an appearance are Chiddy Bang.  Do they have any hits other than that awful “The Opposite of Adults”?  Because if all they can do is sample MGMT, then they need to get some new tricks, fast.

I don’t know if I’d pay specifically to see Darwin Deez, but he is a bizarre creature, and both “Radar Detector” and “Constellation” tend to get stuck in my head, so he might be worth checking out while he’s here.

And as for Yolanda Be Cool vs DCup, well “We No Speak Americano” was alright until Triple J started flogging it 25 times a day.  Now I’d prefer to be repeatedly subjected to brutal beatings with a crowbar than hear that stupid song ever again.

Parklife hits Melbourne on the 2nd October.
Ticket onsale midday July 1st.  See the official website for more details.
