A Bit of Splendour on the Side
In case you haven’t heard the news, Splendour is sold out. It took about six and a half hours, but all tickets have now gone. Apparently there were a lot of issues with the website – people losing their place in the queue, sessions timing out. I’m sure there are a lot of unhappy campers out there – but there’s no need to fret, because we have some sideshow announcements!
The Strokes and Mumford & Sons sold out their shows before they were announced in the festival line-up, and Hot Chip & LCD Soundsystem released their dates last week, but today there are a heap of names to add to your must-see lists:
Ash & We Are Scientists will be doing a double headliner show at Billboard on the 4th August, which I will most definitely be attending. On the same night there will also be performances from Jonsi at the Palace, Laura Marling at the HiFi, Band of Skulls at the East Brunswick Club, and Kate Nash at the Corner Hotel. So many brilliant people – it’s a tough choice!
Foals will be playing at the HiFi on July 27th, the same night that you’ll find Alberta Cross at the Corner. On the 28th, The Magic Numbers will be at the Corner. August 3rd, you can see Two Door Cinema Club at the East Brunswick Club.
They’ve really jammed them in – with five gigs on the 4th, it makes it a little difficult to see everyone you want. But, this does pretty much guarantee that if Florence plays a sideshow, it won’t clash with Ash.
